Want to learn wilderness skills?

By Illinois Valley Community College | Apr 07, 2014

IVCC's Continuing Education and Business Services office presents "Native Skills" (HLR-5306-04) Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room G-103 (in the gym building). The cost of this class is $39.

Human survival depends upon awareness; native scouts learned to be invisible and aware in the wilderness. This class will show you how they did it. Practice stalking and nature observation techniques. Interpret tracks and know what the tracked was doing, and thinking, without having seen them! Know why people get lost in the woods. Track and sign track where others cannot see trails! Learn seasonal native plants. This class is held outdoors. Please dress appropriately for outdoor conditions. You may also want to bring note-taking materials, camera, lunch, snacks, and water. Class limited to 10 students, must be 18 years of age or older.

Don't delay--pre-registration for this class is required by Friday, April 11.
