Native Skills class offered at IVCC!

By Illinois Valley Community College | Oct 30, 2013

Human survival depends upon awareness: native scouts learned to be invisible and aware in the wilderness. This class will show you how they did it. Practice stalking and nature observation techniques. Interpret tracks and know what the tracked was doing, and thinking, without having seen them! Know why people get lost in the woods. Track and sign track where others cannot see trails! Learn seasonal native plants. This class is held outdoors.  Please dress appropriately for outdoor conditions. You may also want to bring note-taking materials, camera, lunch, snacks, and water.  Class limited to 10 students, must be 18 years of age or older.

This one-session class will be held on Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and costs $39. To register, call (815) 224-0447. For more information about this class, call (815) 224-0427.
