Illinois Valley Community College’s Therapeutic Massage program will hold an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 in an area formerly known as the upper gym.
Offerings provided during the open house include Reiki, Tai Chi, chair massage, refreshments and door prizes.
This is an opportunity for community members, past IVCC Therapeutic Massage graduates and area businesses to see the therapeutic massage program in its new location. The move is part of the $30.5 million Peter Miller Community Technology Center project.
IVCC’s Therapeutic Massage Program’s first class graduated in July of 2000. There are 143 certificate graduates working full- and part-time in private practice, spas, healthcare and a variety of other areas. IVCC has also graduated eight licensed massage therapists with AAS degree’s and two licensed massage therapists with an advanced certificate. The focus of the AAS degree and Advance Certificate is in healthcare, the fastest growing job market projected for licensed massage therapists over the next five years.
