Illinois Valley Community College's Diversity Team will host "Mimetic Theory: Scapegoating, Bullying, Violence and a Way to Peace" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 in Room C 316 and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 in Ottawa Center's Room 105.

            Pastor Lisa Hadler will present an examination of anthropologist Rene' Girards' Mimetic Theory, explaining the roots of human conflict and violence and offering a way to peace.

            “We humans engage in scapegoating and bullying, but we can do better. Join me in a discussion to learn why we do these things, and how we can stop,” said Hadler.
