IVCC Offers Applied Food Service Sanitation
Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education Office will offer Applied Food Service Sanitation (FSS-1200-630) from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday’s and Thursday’s July 9 through July 26 in Room 101 at Ottawa Center.
The six-session course is designed to assist the manager or potential manager to apply sanitation principles in the operation of a food service establishment and is required for certification as a food service manager.
Students will learn to identify the causes of food-borne illness, identify and apply correct procedures for cleaning and sanitizing and recognize problems and potential solutions associated with the facility, equipment, and layout. The Illinois code related to food service establishments will be discussed.
During the last session, students will take the Illinois Food Service certification exam. Required textbooks are available at the IVCC bookstore. Students will receive one hour of college credit for successful completion of the course.
