IMAGINE VOICE-CONTROLLED LAPTOPS FOR SERVICE MEMBERS WITH HAND WOUNDS/OTHER SEVERE INJURIES.!

By Soldiers' Angels | Apr 14, 2012

You do not have to imagine Soldiers' Angels as one of their many teams has one called PROJECT VALOUR-IT

Project Valour-IT helps provide voice-controlled and adaptive laptop computers to service members recoving from hand wounds and other severe injuries (amputees).  By speaking into a microphone or using other adaptive technologies, the wounded are able to send and receive emails from friends and loved ones, surf the 'Net, and communicate with buddies still deployed.  This sense of connection and independence despite severe injury can have a tremendous impact on the morale and recovery rate of a wounded warfighter.  This also impacts their ability to get back into the workforce.

Our annual meeting in March, I was present when 20 laptops were handed out to 20 surprised but very deserving service men.

Valour-IT works closely with the Department of Defense Computer/electronic Accommodations Program (CAP); CAP supplies the adaptive technology and Valour-IT provides the laptop.(strictly through donations)

Thanks to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Valour-IT is able to extend laptops to VA hospital patients.  Every cent donated for Project Valour-IT goes directly to providing laptops for severely wounded service members, and donations can be made b;y contacting Patricia Scanlon (815)220-0654 or (815)794-1525
