By J. Burt & Associates | Dec 02, 2013

Late Monday Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois announced that they will reverse their decision, following the reversal President Obama and the Illinois Director of Insurance, and allow customers with non-grandfathered policies to keep them for another year.

In a statement the company said,

"Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is committed to providing continuous coverage for its members and is pleased to offer its individual non-grandfathered policy members the option to keep current 2013 policies that were previously subject to discontinuation. Upon renewal, annual premium adjustments may apply.

Customers still have the choice to transition to a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois policy on the exchange and may be eligible for premium subsidies.

We will notify our customers of all of the choices available to them by mail next week and will receive details about their specific policies in accordance with their renewal date."

Affected policies were issued or modified between March 23, 2010 and October 1, 2013.  These policy holders had previously been told their plans would no longer be available at the end of the year, and they the must migrate to 2014 plans which are compatible with the Standards set up by the Affordable Care Act.
