Forty-five year awardee Susan Bogaert is congratulated by Tommy Hobbs (left), IVCH chief executive officer, and Dick Martuzzo, IVCH board of directors member.

A nurse who has worked at Illinois Valley Community Hospital for 45 years was one of 130 IVCH employees honored at the hospital’s annual service awards dinner at Grand Bear Lodge in Utica Thursday night.  Susan Bogaert, a nurse in the obstetrics unit, got a standing ovation when she accepted her 45-year award from Tommy Hobbs, IVCH chief executive officer.

Four employees—Debra Brill, Sandra Evans, Cindi Loebach, and Diana Lyons—received 40-year awards and eight others were honored with 35-year awards.

“Some of you have spent a lifetime caring for others,” said Hobbs in remarks before the awards presentation.

The event also included the formal presentation of the Buckman Family Memorial Award to the IVCH employee of the year, Traci Farneti, a receptionist who works at the IVCH Medical Group’s Peru Medical Clinic.  The award was presented by George Buckman, a member of the hospital’s board of directors, whose family sponsors the honor.

Also recognized were 22 IVCH employees who had retired during the past year.
