The day's activity will include a bake sale/candy sale sponsored by the Methodist women in the meeting house next to the church. A lunch stand operated by church members will be in the church's educational wing at the north entrance along Fifth Street. Also included: children's face painting, decorating pumpkins, farmers market stalls, craft stalls, Christian music, a kettle corn booth, Grandma Rosie's Sweet Treats, an apple pie baking contest and an additional pie contest (Chef's Choice). After the pie judging, the pies entered in the contest will be sold for a donation. There also will be a parade. The highlight of the annual event is serving of a dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken gravy, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread and butter, beverage and pie in the church social room with servings at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. There's an early bird special ($8 for adults, $4 for children younger than 12) for the 4:30 p.m. seating. Prices are $9 for adults and $4 for children at the other times. Carry-out meals will be available starting at 4 p.m. Carry-outs are $9 for adults, $4 for children. For advance tickets (815) 252-6228.
